With its highly effective wavelength of 1940nm, the simLa® 6 is considered the 5th generation of endovenous lasers and is the most advanced in its class.
Thanks to its initiative and innovative strength, iMS launched the first patented diode laser system of its kind on the market in 2019, which is lightweight, compact and low-maintenance.
The result is a fast, cost-effective and even more patient-friendly method of varicose vein removal.
A laser is defined by its wavelength. Every wavelength has its very specific effect on certain cells or molecules and leads to very specific effects in order to change something in the sense of cutting, closing, activating or healing.
The generation of wavelengths can be very complicated and complex, like wavelength below 800 nm or above 1900 nm. The efforts of specific wavelength come along with different other complications like enormous costs for such machines, heavy weight or simple difficulties to bring this wavelength into the human body.
Technically speaking, a laser is not a heat source like radio frequency (RF) technology.Instead, the laser light, in this case, excites water molecules and sets them in motion, generating heat. Therefore, laser technology can be used for more precise and specific treatments.
For long time the generation of 1940 nm was not possible at a decent cost-effect ratio. This is especially required in applications like varicose vein treatment and similar. Due to the high number of potential patients, the demand is huge but requires a treatment at acceptable costs.
iMS found a way to generate this specific laser wavelength of 1940 nm at acceptable costs. The simLa 6 laser was the first diode laser of this wavelength worldwide, CE approved for varicose vein treatment. Compared to the still widely used technology of 1470nm or below, 1940 nm has at least a 4-times higher absorption in water.
Preciseness is an essential part of a dedicated quality treatment. Due to its technique, simLa® 6 focuses the heat only on the inside of the vein without affecting the surrounding tissue. As a result, less energy and lower maximum temperatures are required for a reliable closure without affecting the long-term results.
Thanks to the wavelength of 1940 nm, the simLa® 6 works very effectively at a maximum of 6 Watts only. Nevertheless, through its very good long-term results, it meets the high expectations of professionals and patients alike. Studies have proven that a LEED of 35 J/cm – 40 J/cm is sufficient whereas laser of older generations more than 80 J/cm or more is required.
Because of focusing the heat on the inside of the vein only, negative side effects like temporary nerve damage, discoloration, post operational pain and prolonged recovery time is significantly reduced or even avoided.
Due to its advantages over older generation lasers, the simLa® 6 is even more focused on patient comfort and is currently the most advanced endovenous thermal treatment for varicose veins that users such as vascular surgeons, phlebologists or angiologists can opt for.
